-"Gift of Tounges": (read for next time): 1 Corinthians 14.
-different from Acts 2. People speak only to God.
-like a translater for business affairs; they speak to other people in their native tounges.
-fundamentalists: tounges were for a particular purpose in the early church; not for today; today we have the Bible.
-1 Corinthians 13: 8-10.
-charismatics: (greek word Charismata: "gifts of grace"): prophecy, healing, tounges, excorcisms (miracles).
-Catholic Theology is charismatic, though practices (way of worship) is not.
-They (charismatics) believe tounges, etc. for today.

-Pentacostal Churches: speaking in tounges is the sign that you're saved, or at least more spiritual.

-Jesus: you must be "born again"; of water and Holy Spirit; spiritual rebirth. John 3:16: doesn't say you need to be baptized, you just need to believe; also look at John 3:3, 1:12.
-Baptism: Col.12:12, Rom.6:
-seen as a sign of repentance for sins.
-Jesus' baptism: to kick off his ministry.
-John 3:5, reference to baptism of John(?).
-Rom.6: seems to be a symbol of new life in Christ; also 1Peter 3:21-22.
