-According to Mark, jesus had brothers and sisters. Seen in Mark 6: 3 "rejection of Jesus at Naz."
-Catholic teaching: perpetual virginity of Mary. Not in the NT. Shows influence of pagan goddess worship. Comes from the need to worship as a mother figure, without sex (icky)...this being virginal (Isis, Ishtar, Athena...)
-Rise of Asceticism in the church - denying bodily wants or needs for spiritual purpose. People would sit on top of a poll (amongst other isolationary methods). It was a way of punishing your body to pay for your sins, and to prevent sin.

6. The desolated sacrilege (anti-christ[v14]). From the book of Daniel- refers to Antichos Epiphanes in the book of Daniel. The temple was tainted by a pig sacrifice to Zeus.

After all the suffering, "the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give light."

The son of man will come. Referred to by Christians as the "second coming." Jesus will gather his followers, and they'll be saved [Mark 13; 24].
