Jesus: "Wealth is a corrupting influence [it's easier to get a camel...]" vs. OT: "Wealth is a sign of God's affection [Job]."

For example: Jesus saw a flea market in the temple where poeple would sell sacrifices -- to make a sacrifice people had to do it in the temple (which would "shaft" you in their extremem currency exchange rate). Similarly seen today in movie theaters where no outside food is admitted, only the company's concessions are allowed. After seeing the flea market, Jesus got himself a whip and ran out all the money handlers because it was wrong, and against God's way.

-Messianic Secret:
Scholarly term used to describe the fact that jesus tries to keep his identity secret. Jesus rarely claims to be the Messiah. Typically he doesn't deny it when asked, he makes poeple promise to keep it secret.

-Theories why Jesus Kept the Messianic Secret: Jesus never claimed to be the messiah. The need to believe he was conflicted with his actual teaching, resulting in the neurotic attitude toward it in the Gospels. Only appears in synoptic Gospels (not in John). Jesus also talks about the "son of man" spoken in the third person - the person will deliver man from their sins, also known as the Messiah.
