Kosher Laws (dietary restrictions)
-Leviticus 11. Animals that are clean (kosher) are Any animal that has divided hoofs & is cleft footed and chews cud may be eaten. Except, the camel (does not divided hoofs) The rock badger, hare, pig. Grazing animals are okay. (they are considered cleaner anyway) May eat all animals in water that has fins & scales in sea and stream. Not swarming creatures. No birds of prey carrion, scavengers. All winged insects that walk on all four’s that have jointed legs above their feet that leap on the ground including; locust, bald locust, grasshopper, cricket, beetles. It is especially important to remember that the pig is the most unclean of animals, and is not eaten by practicing Jews still today. The Kosher laws are an important part of Judaism today. Orthodox, and conservative Jews are the one’s that follow the Laws most strictly. There are also Reformed, and reconstructionalist Jews which are more liberal than the Orthodox.
The Day of atonement is to cleanse the city of Israel, Moses makes an sin offering & a burnt offering to cleanse him and the city. He uses 2 male goats as a sin offering and 1 ram as a burnt offering. He (Moses) wears his linen vestments and sprinkles blood in the horns of the goat with his finger 7 times to cleanse & hallow it for the uncleanness of the people of Israel.
The Torah states that you shall not have sexual relations with a man, if man or woman if woman, or any sex with animals-it is an abomination to the lord. New liberal Jews are more accepting today or tell them that if they are different then they must remain celibate
If someone performs in the occult arts, they will be cut off from the people, shall be stoned or put to death. This is looked upon like trying to take God’s power. If you want to know the future, God will tell you through prophecies, and it is an abomination to go to others.
Miriam is struck with leprosy because she undermined Moses’ authority and made the lord angry. Miriam and Aaron question Moses’ relationship with God and wonder if he really talks to him face to face. Miriam got leprosy because that is looked upon as the most unclean (especially back then because they weren’t allowed to touch carcasses, or other unclean objects). Miriam and Aaron were talking behind Moses’ back about his wife from Cush and this was even more of a reason for the Lord to become angry, and made Miriam "white as snow" because if she wanted to be white, she could be white as white can be. This passage states how God is NOT against interracial marriage, but he is against interfaith marriage.
The city of Israel is to be the blessed city of Yahweh if they follow his laws.
Yahweh gives blessings and curses for following him. They are as follows: BLESSINGS: to be a great nation, healthy livestock and children, holiness, plenty of food, military victory, national security, blessed all the time, wealth (Jewish bankers). CURSES: be a despised nation, disease, deformed children & livestock, famine, military defeat, conquered by enemies, slavery, poverty, be naked all the time and running in street with insanity.
