As I read over the readings for last week i was quite interested with the theory behind truth. In the readings it states that "Truth is a quality which applies to some beliefs, statements and propositions...Beliefs are mental representations." I think that the truth is a very interesting thing. Truth is a product of view point. For example there could be a car accident and there are many different people watching this horrific mess unfold. There may be some people that claim that the person in front caused the accident to happen, because from there stand point and from what they saw that is exactly what happened. There may also be others who where observing from some other area, and are convinced that the car in the back caused the accident to happen. This is only one example of how truth is objective. One of the biggest misleader of the truth in our present day is the american news media. The is definitely a bias in todays reporting of the news in our country. This bias is not only limited to the reporting of politics, but also in our involvement in other countries. The truth in most cases is not completely certain so as Descartes starts his journey for certainty he must start at square one.
