The same question applies to all forms of religion. If we knew there was an "other side" or a hell or a heaven or that we came back as other life forms, would we live our lives differently? Lots of people believe just those things. And then there's always the comeback: "God doesn't care if you believe in him or not."

So what is the purpose of belief? If belief is inherently faulty, as it appears that it is, and knowledge can barely be trusted... then is it all just something for us to discuss on a rainy day? There seems to be no bedrock upon which we can lay our foundation.
