Perhaps Descartes seems pompous
because of his long sentences and
flowery language. But keep in mind that
this was the style of the day and that he is
writing for an elite, academic audience.

Descartes might ask how you know your
arm isn't just part of the dream. Don't you
have arms in your dreams?
