I think that you are totally on topic if you think about the way Peirce talks. Someone who always thinks that their point of view is right, and is never willing to even consider another's opinion (method of tenacity) is very much like being ignorant. If you are not open to other ideas, the world may as well be flat. At the same time, I think that you are right in saying that sometimes it is better not knowing.
