I would have to say that I found that the "method of science" approach to the way to arrive at a firm belief is the one that makes the most sense to me. I know to many people who are so close-minded that their point of view HAS to be right, (method of tenacity) and it doesn't matter whether I or someone else has a reasonable argument against their point of view. I know that Peirce says that this can be a happy way to live "ignorance is bliss?" but at the same time, people questioned whether the world was flat even though it was the major majority at the time. Now we know that the world is round, not flat.
Also, one of the main reasons that I have a problem with religion is the whole concept of "method of authority." To me, a lot of times it seems like the people who are in charge tend to get to tell the followers how to think. For instance, homosexuality is bad, sex before marriage is bad (because it doesn't serve the purpose of procreation). These seem like pints of views, which to me one single person cannot be told how to view. A point of view is for that individual, not to be forced upon themselves.
