It's probably a little late to be posting this,
but better late than never.

If you are reading the posts through a
web broswer (internet explorer or
netscape), you should make use of the
"Mark Read" function (if you're only
reading through email, you can ignore
this post). After reading all the new
messages, click the "Mark Read" oval at
the top and click on the PHL 202 On-line
conference. This way, the next time you
log in, you'll only see the word "new" next
to the threads with messages you haven't
read.

Also, sometimes it's hard to see the
"new" markings because the left hand
frame isn't big enough. Use your mouse
to move your cursor over the frame
divider. At a certain point, it will turn into a
pair of parallel lines. When it does that,
stop moving it and click and hold down
your mouse. then you can drag it to the
left to see the rest of the topic lines and
the "new" marks. You can move it back in
the same fashion or just refresh the
screen to move it back to the default
position.

Also, remember to check back on the
webboard every day or two. When you
receive the posts via email, you can't
forget about them as easily (if you check
your email regularly). Don't procrastinate
and let two weeks go by without reading
or posting--you'll lose credit for not
posting and may miss an important
announcment or deadline. Think about
checking the webboard as being
analogous to going attending class. You
wouldn't go two weeks without going to
class would you? Again, it is suggested
that you check for new posts at least 3x a
week to keep up with announcments,
new reading handouts, posts and exam
schedules.
