Okay, I can understand his fear of church and I can also agree that he was sincere in his belief in God. It seems to me though that in his decisions about God, he is making a tremendous "leap of faith". So, if we recognize that, can we not say that God is not the deity that created man but rather we are self created or come from another area all together? Can we not apply that faith to say, for example, that earth and man were created from beings from another planet (yea, I know it's a controversial theory). But then DeCartes was controversial and the "other planet" theory has been in existence for a long time as well. Or, rather, that we are living in the vat with only brains?
