It seems to take a very strong person to stand up to the majority and thinks outside it. We do have a strong "wanting to belong"urge that would have to be laid aside to step out and think differently,especially in places where there is one main religion,or culture.Here in America we have more of a melting pot and maybe it is easier to look outside our box and into someone else's.Yet the majority still seems to remain ignorant even here with differsity all in our face.I feel that mankind could be so much more advanced than we are after all these years on this planet, yet we are like children fighting over toys.The emphasis on the material that has been going strong with "progress" keeps us very ignorant mentally and spiritually.We are very stunted in this department.
