In Descartes Second Meditation, he holds two goals when it comes to forming beliefs:

(1) believe as many true things as possible,
(2) avoid believing as many false things as possible.

My question though is, if God created us as free will beings, and allows us to create our own false beliefs (for what ever reason), then how can we avoid believing false that we think are truths? If by nature we are flawed, then aren't we prone to false beliefs by our own actions? I am having trouble losing this idea; how can he get down to the absolute certainties, life's not as simple as math otherwise we'd all be perfect, flawless beings-with only a black and white side, no gray.
