I enjoyed your example and point that, if you are taught and raised with a set of so called truths and that's what you hold a the absolute truth then by no means can you be held responsible for that. However, I would agree that this argument can only hold true for those who don't yet know that they can questions things (i.e. children). As some age, if we haven't questioned the beliefs we hold as truths in our lives and decided for ourselves their value then we can be held responsible for holding false beliefs. I would agree that ignorance is definitely not bliss.
