Tues, Oct 8 - Theories of knowledge

I was not especially impressed with Decartes arguments in Meditation 3 regarding the existence of God. It seems he pretty much decided that there is a God because his "spirit" (if I may) was placed into this body and because he has the "idea" that there is a God. In his time, I'm sure that that was very convincing. In this time, I don't think you're going to convince a non-believer with that argument. He seems to have decided that there is a God and then tried to prove it, instead of deciding there was not, and then finding the reasons that there may be. (proving is still impossible-only believing)
