Complex ideas- combination of simple ideas, can be broken down further.
created actively by the mind

Primary Qualities- in the objects themselves
Real, truly objective

Secondary Qualities- the power of the objects to create certain sensations in us, through the primary qualities.

Red- the power of certain objects to create red sensations in us though the surface of the way the light reflected off.

Substance- concept of matter, material

Matter- something I know not what- which supports qualities.

substance can't be sensed, known through logical interference.
