*Competition in the education system*

competition that is institutionalized in our educational systems promotes social inequality and tracking with students. Competition is prevalent in every aspect of school including athletics, testing, grading, activities witch places students in different ability groups. This placement of ability is a way of sorting student for future academic standing and endeavors. Students on the lower rungs (decided by competition) will face problems with college and further career options. Most of these students places with low ability's are minority's and poor children. The highly competitive students are placed with high abilities and succeed to elite positions and opportunities. These students are financially stable from good backgrounds and mostly white. This idea of competition further enhances inequality and raises the low class population. Competition is not beneficial because it isn't the root of education. Education should include teamwork and give everyone (yes, even the poor) a chance to succeed, learn and grow rather than sort the competitive from everyone else.
