It seems that the American public school system is primarily geared to cater only to the "average" students. Anyone that is unfortunate enough to be either below the percieved intelligence norm or above it suffers greatly by not recieving a ciriculum that is approapriate for their learning needs. I do not believe ANY student should be discouraged from pursuing a dream they have because some educational system feels they "need" to condition the child to be comfortable with failure. This country makes a habit of blaming it's own incompetencies on anything, or anyone possible. If a child is struggleing perhaps it would do good to try and attempt to understand the reasoning behind the difficulties. I wonder just how many children have been subjected to this insanity of "cooling out". Our children hold the ansewers for the next generation. How dare we impede that by sweeping their needs under the rug. Each child is special and amazing in their own rite and I am sickened that anyone would believe that teaching a child to fail is in anyway benefiting that child or anyone that is in that childs life from then on.
