Exercise 2.1: Finding the Questions


1.  In the space below, write the title of
your tentative topic (e.g. Internet addiction)

-against cigarette advertising


2.  Briefly state why you chose this topic.

I choose this topic because I knew
there would be alot of information and
because it interests me. I agree that
advertisements of ciggerettes should be
banned for proven ties between smoking
and advertising. If it's proven that
advertising smoking results in more
smokers than it should automatically be
banned even if it is someone's personal
rights.


3.  Spend about five minutes listing what
you already know (if anything) about your
topic. For example, are you aware of any
interesting facts, common
misconceptions, your own assumptions,
important people or institutions involved,
key schools of thought, the extent of the
problem, current trends, etc.?

- I know that in the past years smoking
has increased a great deal. Also it is
proven that the more advertisements of
smoking you have the more smokers will
begin. People who object to this decision
are either people who are strong
smokers or people who are involved in
the advertising of ciggerettes. I think that
if the advertising of ciggerettes is directly
linked to the increase in smokers then is
should be banned. This will be a hard
topic to get to the middle of because
nearly every ciggerrette company is
backed with millions and millionsof
dollars

your topic you’d love to learn the answers
to. Make this list as long as you can, and
don’t worry whether every question is a
good one.

advertise because they dont think it's
right?

organizations?

-What could be done to stop ciggerette
advertisements?

-How much has ciggerrette polution
increased in the last year?

-Has the average age of smokers
increased or decreased in recent years?

-What would happen if ciggerette
advertisements stopped?

-What cities in the United States have the
biggest teenager smoking percentage?

-What cities have the most cigerette
advertisents?
