Hi:
I do think that two people who truly love eachother, are committed and devoted to one another, are monogomous to one another, lead their lives in good healthy ways, and make good choices and decisions together, ought to be able to declare themselves a valid legal couple publically as well as privately. There are many benefits a married couple receives that singles don't, and I think if two people have made the joint decision to spend their lives together and share in all the responsibilities of family and life brings, that they ought to be able to have the legal, technical benefits too.
I don't understand the sexual aspect of gays, but I don't have to. I can fathom the sexual aspect of lesbians easier, but what's the difference, if I'm not one?
I definitely can understand two mature, consenting adults falling in love, staying in love, and sharing their lives together, gay and lesbian.
I think that ones personal sexual orientation is their business and that I don't want to know about it particularly, unless maybe I wanted to date them. I am married so I don't.
I think that my friendship with someone should not be dependent on whether they are gay or not but on how we interact as friends, or family members, or community members. I will get along with some better than others gay or not, but I will try to get along and be civil and respectful to everyone. I will choose not to be around or spend time with people who are acting in dangerous, harmful etc. ways.
I do not think that I need to go around telling gay people that they can't get married or have the rights of marriage afforded to them by law held from them because they are gay. I don't know where I stand morally on this issue because Jesus says that the two laws above all others are love God with everything and love your neighbor as yourself. The Bible says it's its own interpreter and is no respector of man. I don't hear here where I should persecute and judge gays and disallow them from marrying. I think that two people who love eachother in healthy ways and raise families in healthy ways are damn good and needed. Their are too many sad bad stories of ruinous families and this is not because people are gay. I'd rather have a happy well adjusted child grow up in a happy well adjusted gay family than a horrible hetrosexaual family. I definitely think the issue is: the love two people have for one another and their commitment and responsibility to one another and their families not whether they are gay or not. I think we have enough people on this planet already, maybe people are gay today in part to curtail our population? Maybe people are gay today because of religion itself. Because so many Catholic priests aren't marrying and having families. Who knows?
If it is truly wrong for peoples to be gay by God, the powers that be, divinity, heaven, well then I pray for people to see the light, recognize this is wrong, repent, and get straight. I just don't know!
