The mythical US family consists of false ideology's that society believes a family is or should be like. I would like to concern my thoughts on the idea of the "monolithic family form." This attitude says that family's should all be somewhat similar in the sense that father is working and dominant, mother is stay at home with children and takes care of living responsibilities. This image is thrown at us through every media outlet available all the time. We know this family type is not reality simply by examining our family's and ones around us.
Reality is far from this idea of the "mythical family." Today women work, women are single-working moms and family's are divorcing more than ever. There are different pros and cons with this present family structure. The main negative connotation I see is the small time being spent with children. This causes immense problems for the child and parents. At the same time women are given more options to be independent and able to participate in the working class.
