My household was similar to your's growing up, except my mother did work. Both of my parents made really good money, so they shared all of the financial responsibilities. {As far as I know!} The non-financial responsibilities were different. My mom and dad were both extremely active in our upbringing, but my dad did deal with more of the punishment type stuff. And my mom dealt with more of the daily life stuff. And I do agree that men do control more of the marital power issues. Even though many couples both work now, I still think that men control it more. I'm not really sure why it still is that way. But with all of the couples I know, that's the way it goes. Except for my husband and I. He works and I am going to school, but I do all of the financial stuff. We decide together how to spend our money, but I am the one who does the checkbook/bills/ect. I guess it's because I like doing it!
