I think that Michael Parenti makes some very good points when he discusses the media and our society. What he says is true, people in our community generally don't know about what is going on in our society until it is brought out in the media. The way in which it is told is totally dependent on the corporation to which it is a subsidiary, and what side of the political fence that they sit on. The media plays a large role in the stereotyping that occurs in our society. Not always is it completely obvious, but it is virtually always there. The subjectivity that is shown through the media's interpretation of events is pretty misleading to the general public who as a whole, try to be as objective as possible. From a young age, the media provides us with non-stop ideologies of what it takes to be something or somebody in the world.
