I honestly believe that the media is the prime producer of the dominant idealogy in our society. People rely too heavily on the media to aid them in constructing their moral universe. People look to their television sets to constuct who they are and how they are to percive their enviornment. In some form the media cripples each area of our culture and sub-culture. No minority is saved from the stereotyping and berating of the media. There ARE two sides to every story and there is no evidence of that in the nightly news. Our country is suffering from a dreadfull case of ethnocentrism. We go to all lengths to protecxt the ol red, white and blue without a thought as too who it is covering up or crucifying. The news is a very well hidden opinion...and not a whole lot more. Everything must be heard, read or viewed with a handful of salt... I don't believe just a grain would sufice.
