Tompkins concludes that one single truth can never be found because to her, truth lies in a persons perspective; there are a lot of different perspectives out there. Truth, to her, is perception. She comes to this conclusion by realizing that even though she took a subjective, non-biased approach, her own opinions slipped into her research and she judged naturally. I agree that human judgement will find its way into every situation. But what I don't understand is how a person can believe in a truth, whether its their own made up truth or adopted, and accept the fact that there are other truths, different truths, that are true for other people, but not for that person. What does that tell you about that persons believing? I tells me that that person is not really strong in their truth and aren't willing to take a stand in what they believe in. Tompkins has her own truth but she never really spills her guts in what she believes in. I think her conclusion is powerless. It is not a valid argument.
