The stories were genuine, and there were many assumptions on all of their parts. what was truth? What was in their stories that pulled us and Jane tompkins into those stories, were they truth, were they lies, were they there to see who we could anger?

Jane went in with a chip on her shoulder already, due to her childhood experience, but when we read do we see what she perceived in the stories, or not. I my self still don't know what to say, because I use my own discretion on this situation, but there were very blunt remarks on the fact that "the massive narrative of the movement of European culture into the vacant wilderness of America." that was very bold and rude, but was he just trying to catch us to pull us into his story or did he really believe this?
