No, I don't believe this country is a democracy. The people who dominate this country are the ones who get their voices heard. I have heard so much in the way of "if you don't vote don't complain" but never anything in the way of understanding the root of the disinterest to participate. The middle and lower class are constantly told both spoken and unspoken that they don't matter, that their opinions do not count. Everyday in America it is made very clear that those without wealth and power and simply here to cater to those who do. So when election time comes all of a sudden their voice must be heard? We have as a country put no value on those of lower incomes so they are made to believe it. This creates feelings of not caring because "what's the use?"
