Yet when over 80% of a race can vote for a certain candidate and not see their vote going for the candidate they wanted... it can be VERY discouraging.

Voting can be looked at like employment. Do you blame those that don't vote/look for work or do you need to look at the system and see why it is that they don't vote. I vote, and I have influenced people that had never voted before to cast a ballot, but to what degree do we blame the discouraged voter/discouraged worker and to what degree do we blame the corruption in our government and the lack of issues that represent the whole country.

We are not represented by our own on a large scale. If the diversity in the houses doesn't represent the diversity in the country (and PLEASE do not think diversity is race... CLASS diversity is needed in our government) then many people's issues are left unseen, untouched, and therefore unimportant. This in turn tells those people they are unimportant... and they (we) have been treated this way for years...
