I think the U.S is a democracy, but a controled one. At least that was the idea by our founding fathers. (to be a democracy)
The idea of democracy is equality, and we don't have that,but that's not to say we could not have that. Maybe we just need to explore other options.
Don't get the idea that I am against our system of government like some people already have. I think this is the best country in the world at this time, but I will not pretend to act like I don't know what corruption is out there.The question asks is the united states a democracy? I guess you could go either way with this one, depending on your definition of democracy. The definition is a government by the people, but we must ask ourelves if it is really by the people or if it is by the rich.
Yes we can vote, but not all votes are counted. Yes we choose our presidents, but they must be millionaires, and laws are past not always for the good of the people, but for the good of big business. Is this equality, no, but what country has a true democracy then? I call it a limited deocracy, one with the right idea in mind, but off track of what it was truelly intended.
