"rumor" said that John wouldn't die before the 2nd coming, which is true.

"If it's my will he(John) remains until I come, what is that to you?"
-apocalyptic view-> personal relationship w/ Jesus
-liberal view-> Jesus didn't come as expected so ppl began to focus on "life after death" - eternal life now vs future ressurection.
-conservative view->difference in emphasis. Ppl misunderstood Jesus.
