Jesus spoke Aramaic.
A cognate language to hebrew, the language of Babylon.
Part of the book of Daniel in the Old Testament was written in Aramaic.
George Lamas and a small minority believe the original N.T. was written in Aramaic.

The first physical manuscript was found(MSS) 1050 A.D.

The Enlightenment period, or the "Age of Reason" occurred around the 19th century.
This is when skepticism of the super natural took place, and the rise of scientific naturalism occurred, which basically states everything can be explained by science.

Deism - is the belief that God exists but doesn't intervene in human affairs.
Around this time people started picking apart the N.T.,"How can Jesus be both man and god?" This seems to be contradictory. This school of thought was influenced by Darwinism.

"Growth of Religion"
1)Animism - is regarded as primitive and superstitious. It is the belief the finite spirits inhabit mountains, rocks, streams, caves, trees, etc. The spirits are seen as amoral, or good or bad. People would have sacrifices and prayers to these spirits.

2)Polytheism - started at the turn of the agricultural age as society developed. It is the belief in many gods. Pantheon is the a hierarchy of gods. The distinction between polytheism and animism is that in polytheism the gods are more powerful and are hierarchal. There are also many different gods and different groups would worship different gods. Late polytheism believed in life after death.

3)Monolotry - is the worship of one god, further development of life after death took place in monolotry.

4)Monotheism - is the belief that only one god exists. O.T. proclaims only one god exists, it is YHWH and he is good and just, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent. There is one god and he created everything. With monotheism we see the introduction of complex and sophisticated beliefs.
