Q: Does the 6th commandment, Not to murder, prohibit capital punishment and war?

1. No-Acham was killed along with his family for theft, or violation of the "ban".

2. No-God condones war?


Rebuttal: Israel was led by God, where as we aren't.

But: Isn't a command a command?

when reading scripture it is best to read in the sense and context of the author. One is not to kill his brother or any other hebrew. Where as war and ethnic cleansing is appropriate when ordered by Yaweh.


Kosher laws: dietary laws in the tenauch: Leviticus

1. Bugs: only eat grasshopper, locusts (jumping winged, jointed legs)

2. Girds: No carrion (those that live on prey or dead) chickens, and land birds probably ok.
3. Fish: No shell fish: must have fins and scales. No oysters, eels, octopus, etc.
4. Land animals: Must chew cud and have cloven split hooves. such as cows, sheep, goats.

the sins of the jews are taken on by the High priest (aaron) and then transferred to the scape goat which is driven into the wilderness.

today it is a time of repentance, reflection and resolution to do better.

Obedience with the Almighty:
blessings: Health
good kids/many
military vitory
live stock
travel (saftey also)
material wealth
curses;
bad offspring
sick live stock
military defeat
panick and frustration
well rounded calamity
tremblig hear and eyes
foreign occupation

Obeying the Lord Your God and his commandment and decrees meant blessing whereas the opposite meant a life of cursing.

Note: the benefits of obediences seem to be in this life not the next.
