Senses are unreliable
-doubt everything & see what's left=foundation of knowledge(what can't be doubted)

"I exist" Doubting-Doubter, deception-deceived,thinking-thinker

cagito ergo sun(I think therefore I am, I existed at least as a conscious entity)

Hume's criticism of Descarte
-there is no "I" or self
-the "self" is just a bundle of perceptions
-no thinking thing or substance

association of ideas=inventions

the mind is a theater where perceptions perform

Is the bundle metaphor compatible with the theater metaphor?
