I've heard that the Levi plant in Kentucky is closing and moving overseas. This plant in Kentucky is/was in a city/town of about 1200 or 12,000 people. I know these figures vary but, my point is- this Levi plant was the main source of employment, akmost the only source of employment for this town. I think it's highly irresponsible and greedy for a big corporation like Levi to move overseas. Levi's been around for a long time and has made lots of money. This corporation doesn't need to move their plant over seas. They don't need to have their products made overseas cheaper just to stay afloat. Levi and other major established corporations ought to have more good sense with their money and find decent ways to cut costs if necessary, keep jobs in America, and forget moving shop overseas to save money. These major corporations which have capital to work with, have no reason to move overseas. They are moving overseas because of pure greed and/or I suppose mismanagement of money over many years or fraud of Levi's capital. I don't believe this blantant greed happening here in America. What's going to happen to the working landscape of America?
The only possible "good" thing, if you could actually call it a good thing that's happened with corporations moving overseas, is that it makes more Americans aware of the corporate greed going on, and maybe be more willing to, find ways to, make ways to change things for the better in our society. What about all our future generations? Without jobs here in America, will America just become an "island for super wealthy people" and everyone else have to move overseas to work? Or, will everyone else stay in America and become servants to the super rich who live in America?
