There are many benefits and criticisms to every social structure. I have learned that no matter what type of society you live in, there will always be flaws with the structure in which you live. Capitalism is not perfect, but I do believe it is the best social structure for a democratic, free thinking culture like that of the U.S. The benefits of a capitalist nation are that everyone is entitled to become as profitable as they aspire to be. This is one of the major drawbacks of socialism , everyone is brought down to the lowest level and no body ever gets ahead in life. We have the opportunities to be successful and thrive, whether or not we challenge ourselves is another choice we make. A huge drawback to capitalism is the problem of monopolies forming like in the utilities and petrol industries, to name a few. Corporations definitely have an unfair advantage in business today. Mega corporations are given extremely unbalanced tax breaks and have a large influence on legislature through lobbyists and soft money. As you can see there are no answers as to whether Socialism or Capitalism is the right structure.All you can do is weigh the benefits and disadvantages of the structure's values that you agree with.
