Hi: If you want to get involved and make a difference, go upstairs at 454 Willamette str. There are many different offices there which support different causes, that you can get involoved with, and get more information about. Many initiative petitioning campaigns are run from there ie: sustainable forestry, mad cow disease were/are etc. The Lane County Chapter Pacific Green Party is located there, groups for animal rights, homosexual rights, and so many more. Sometimes there are even events and activities given at this location like: storytelling and others. It's a pretty cool place with a wealth of info. for everyone.
Check it out. Offices are located above the Grower's Market. It's right near the train station downtown.
