I agree with Meorah.

I can say from first hand experience that my teachers are the whole reason I took education seriously. I've found myself wondering why I didn't receive a less-than-adequate education because I grew up in poverty. Maybe this was partly because of my parents. They didn't become bogged down in the whole poverty-stricken realm of things and we moved upward and onward. I think what brought us out of that rut was our move to Alaska. But, getting back to education and adjustment classes; if I'd been shoved into a corner in the fifth grade when I could only read at the second grade level, I would have failed miserably. Instead, my teacher gave me some books to read and instilled in me a real love of reading. She didn't send me off to a special-ed class, she made me the master of my own education by equipping me with progressively harder books to read, a desire to learn and a hope in knowing that if I read enough I could learn ANYTHING.
