The adjustment class is a program for students who are considered emotionally disturbed. Generally they have poor academics, are in trouble, are into drugs, and have bad home lives. I believe the HH are attracted to it because of their perceptions of society and the working world. They don't feel they are going to get a break anywhere and because of the code in which they choose to live by, they feel they don't have to change themselves or their standards to be in this program. They are more comfortable with what they know, and the teacher in this program talks like them, acts like them, and comes from where they come from, so they can relate to him. Yes, I believe it does benefit the HH. Although the work is on an easy level, they are made responsible for seeing that their work gets done. That makes them take responsibility for themselves. Taking the initiative to get the work done on their own is a marketable job skill. They are attending regularly, getting their work done and controlling themselves. All valuable skills that will be important to them later in life.
