The Hallway Hangers and The Brothers do have aspirations to brighten their futures. They also have high expectations in varies ways. But the priorities are different. HH believes that friends come first and everything else comes last. The brothers believe that education comes first and friends last. The only differences is that the Brothers try very hard to successed in their schooling even if their grades are not up to par. The still try their best to be the best that they can be and excel in whatever they want to pursue. The Hallway Hangers give up before they even start. They drop out of school because they figure they will never be better than a manual laborer. So why go to school when all they can be is just that. a minimum wage, entry level slave to the capitalists
