I was on the higher side of things. I was raised in a primarily high class or middle to high class city with these types of families. I look back now on my education and opportunities and what Bourdieu's Theory makes sense. We had more advantages and we had great education. In my school I definitely believe if you were on the lower end of things you were at a disadvantage.

I also know that when students were working some of their jobs rewarded good grades. They would get discounts and even scholarships for college if they were at a good grade standing. I found that usually what happened is that the people who were working at these jobs really needed the money because they were in the lower classes. Because of this, they would work hard and a lot and usually could not keep the good grades they needed, so they would miss out on the benefits. I had some friends who had money, but their parents wanted them to have a part time job so they would work at these places for like a day a week or even less and be able to keep their grades up. This in the end would give them the benefits. It is a horrible cycle.
