I took the stance in an earlier argument that people have the other life chances like you mentioned and it was poo-pooed (Section B-Q8).
I'm just playing devils advocate but why should someone have to join the military to get a better life?

As for cheaper labor over seas. I feel it is a double edged sword. Americans do not want to pay $2.00 for a comb when they can have it made in China and buy it for 10 cents. At the same time those Americans do not want to lose their jobs to cheaper overseas labor.
And a third thing Americans are quite good at is NIMBY (not in my back yard). We can't have some chemical plant making plastics and spewing out toxic waste in our town, send them to another country. They should make a clean plant with no toxic waste but it's easier to go to China then build a plant in Eugene. I'm not saying any of this is right, it's just the way it's done.


A life without cheese is hardly a life worth living!
