I thought I'd let other folks answer this
one, but I guess I'll go ahead and state
my opinion. The question is:

5. Why do you think so many people think
that welfare spending is too high? What
do you think now?

I think that so many people think welfare
spending is too high because they're
bitter and judgmental. You see, when
you don't know the facts or see how really
little the amount is, people become
resentful. You know, "I work hard for my
money and those people just take
handouts." You know what I mean?
Everybody thought that if you're going to
get money, you should earn it. And they
don't even look at the facts that perhaps
there aren't jobs available, or these
people are needed to take care of a dying
parent, or whatever the case may be. This
is the way I always saw it. Also, looking at
the myths; a lot of people believe those to
be gospel and just don't give welfare
recipients any credit. They judge every
one of them as the same. "If you've seen
one, you've seen them all." You know that
mentality.

Now I feel sorry for the folks on welfare.
Not because they're pathetic or pitiful, but
because they're STILL not getting
anything and they're on a program that
claims to give aid! Welfare gives a little,
but a lot more is needed for a person to
have a normal life.
