I agree with Gans. He makes several points on why poverty persists, and it all comes down to one thing-the only way to stop this notion and the functions is to eradicate poverty. Poverty will keep going on unless society, that is everyone makes a sincere effort to eliminate it. But as Nate mentioned that perhaps right now, in this present day, that maybe this is not possible. But whatever it is, whatever other "important" problems are going on at the moment we still need to deal with it sooner or later-it is still everyone's problem-it is the problem of society.
