I think it's fine to give 10% of an income to God(the church) and have 90% to manage well otherwise, by God. To discuss the finer points of tithing, I'd almost have to engage in a Bible study with you. The Bible says it's it's own interpreter. It would be nice to share with each other our own personal interpretation's, from the Bible, on tithing. I know that one just has to tithe to one's church and trust that God will direct the money well, by His will. I don't doubt this and don't disagree.
I'd share more now, but want to keep it brief and I have my crying 15 month old in my arms now. I have to go.
