I, too, find the whole "reserve army of
labor" to sound a little odd. It seems
kinda far-fetched. But on a serious note, I
think if the government started a little
army to do things for communities like,
fight wild fires, deliver sand-bags for high
water, things like that, then it would be
perfect for the homeless people or really
old people who still need to bring in an
income. I know that the National Guard
does a lot of that stuff now, but wouldn't it
be nice if it was a Reserve Army of
Community Service or something? And
they would get a monthly paycheck? I
think that'd be kinda cool. They could also
come around and pick up people's
popcans or something. Or pick up things
that people want to give to GoodWill. Just
little stuff like that. I think that would be a
really good help. Not a solution, but a
step.
