I agree Nathan. I almost cringe at classes like this because.... how long have students been studying sociology??? How long have we known about these problems? How many of us will get the grade we want (or deserve) and use the info for a debate or discussion with friends, family, or in another class, but do nothing further? What has made our generation (I'm taking a leap cause I don't know your age) so complacent? We see and know so many injustices, yet we scorn, shame and shun those passionate about what they are fighting for. I am in the boat I admit. I have been taught that the boat is the safest place to be, yet at this age.... do you see the holes? I see the holes and this mug is leaking!!! Our boat is going down, but we would rather scorn those yelling and protesting with signs that the ship is sinking!! They tell us about those being tossed off the boat to lighten the load and we either disbelieve, ignore, or acknowledge for a moment then move on to the next subject! We need to be active or nothing will change.
