What is the use of developing a class analysis?

According to Sen and So in "Class Structure and Class Struggle in Capitalist Society" class analysis is a tool used to help understand the workings of class struggles and to make sense of modern capitalism. Not only is it used to understand, but to help maintain the workings of todays capitalistic classes. It provides a way for people to see and understand the events that shape our economy and be able to interpret the realities that the class struggles have in our society. By being able to understand and see the realities of these struggles then we may be able to come to some sort of equal ground and prevent any downfalls that may arise in the future to further the growth of the capitalistic society.

In many ways I can see how this can be beneficial to our society, but recognizing patterns and doing something to prevent them is two different things. It is fine and dandy to look at an aftermath of some sort of vicious "class war" and to point out the problems that could have been avoided. Finding a solution to future problems is where I see trouble. If everyone in a capitalist society is here to make money then looking out for everyone else becomes secondary and that I believe could be where the problem may lie.

So developing class analysis could be used for better if it were to be used in a way that would actually benefit the people that it is studying. I agree that the class analysis is relevant to understanding the issues in todays contemporary capitalism by showing how much class, like the lower, are being manipulated or used, by people like the upper crust. I also think that although this data is important it is not valuable unless acted upon
