That's why they call it "public school." If people had to pay for their kids to go, it would be private school. It think it's plenty fair for tax money to go to public schools. You went to a public school didn't you, Tom? And I think a lot more money should go to schools. I work for a school district, and it's not fun to have to fear for your job every year, due to more and more budget cuts. It would take care of a whole bunch of problems if Oregon had sales tax, but I can't say I'm an advocate for that, just an observation.

As for the tax percentage issue, I agree with Monica. I think taxes should vary according to income, which they do to an extent, but how comfortable does it make you to know that while you're making less and less as a whole every year, while, like Monica was saying, Bill Gates just gets richer and richer? I wouldn't ask for as much as 50%, but maybe a third. Just how much of his money would you say Bill Gates actually "earns" anyway?
