The burning house parable is about different levels of enlightenment as associated w/hinayana and mahayana teachings.<br>
the house is on fire and the father offers his kids different carts of different value's to get them out of the house. He offers them goat cart, deer cart and ox cart. but once they are out of house the kids realize they will not get all the cart just the most valuable of them. soo the question at hand is did the father lie? the father wanted them to have the greater for their own spiritual guidance"enlightenment".  this could be compared to something like your father saying he will give $20.00 for an A  and then when you get the A he gives you $50.00, you probably wouldn't say he is lying. <br>
-this burning house parable and the cart association is like the mahayana/hiniyana rivalry. <br>
