Nirvana: not like a heaven, but a level beyond. Same sort of place as Moksha (Hindu). Freedom from desire, state of bliss. Has 2 definitions:
1. This life = freedom from desire (selfish). When you attain this, you are an Arhat.
2. A state of bliss after death, "Final Nirvana" - nonexistence, impersonal afterlife.

An-atman: no self or soul. Idea of a candle flame. Your life is like a burning candle flame. If you take a burning candle & light another one with it, is it the same flame? (Compare to soul in reincarnation.) Life & conscience ness is a process, not a substance. No identity (over time).

Karma: what you do in this life has effects on your next one.
- No such thing as a person (an-atman).

Know the story of Hatred involving Dirgahayu & King Brahmadatta. "Not by hatred is hatred appeased. Hatred is appeased by renouncing hatred."

Also, forget about the question involving the Dhammapada. We will discuss that after the exam.
